Join the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) in a pre-congress workshop about Chronic pain. Contribute your expert knowledge to improve the understanding of chronic pain in veterans and identify actions DVA can take to support access to best practice care.
This workshop will consider three key themes:
Theme 1: Chronic Pain in Veterans: When does pain become a disease rather than a symptom? What are the factors that lead to pain becoming chronic?
Theme 2: The Compensation Paradox: How can DVA compensate veterans for their pain, without making pain worse?
Theme 3: Best Practice Care: How can DVA support clinicians to provide best practice care, and veterans chose it?
The impact of military trauma in the development of chronic pain, and the role of mental health practitioners in treating it will be a common thread to the discussion.
Your experience and insights will help DVA develop policies and programs to support veterans with chronic pain.
Date: 23 September 2024
